Lost and Found Quilt Block and a Song for Sunday

Amazing Grace

Amazing grace!  How sweet the sound!
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils, and snares,
I have already come.
'Tis grace that brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise,
Than when we first begun.

Words by John Newton (1725-1807) 1779

Newton's first title for this hymn was "Faith's Review and Expectation."

  1. I am glad that they changed the title of the song. Amazing Grace is just a great song but like it sung slowly to savor the mood and words of it. Thanks so much for sharing and also the great stained glass window picture. Cathedral Window pattern surrounded by stained glass piping. :)
